Weekend Fun

Another weekend has come to an end at the Smith household. It started with a trip to the Pizza Ranch buffet since it includes both pizza and chicken and those are Myah and Maysen's favorite foods. Everytime I ask them what they want to eat, Maysen says "pizza" and Myah says "Chicken (nuggets)."
Saturday morning started with rolling out play-doh made for the girls by their teachers at school, and using cookie cutters with it. Play-doh toys are on their christmas list (hopefully Uncle C comes through on that!). Next, we hung up framed pieces of Myah and Maysen's art work from school. As you can see in the picture, we have a priceless gallery in our basement. I absolutely love it! We also finished our Christmas shopping and wrapping gifts.
Supper on Sunday for the girls was Dora Soup (chicken with Dora character shaped noodles). The picture is of them sharing a chair and having their soup. Myah looks at me and says "I share my chair with Maysen. 'Cause Maysen's my friend." Talk about melting my heart!
I am officially on Christmas (winter) break, but Brandon has to go back Monday and Tuesday of this next week. We will leave Wednesday to begin our holiday travels. First to Rembrandt and then to Lake Mills on Christmas Day. We are very much looking forward to seeing our family and friends!
Happy Holidays.

Big Girls Now

For the past year, I have neglected to update our family's "babysite" and I've been debating starting a blog since the term "baby" doesn't exactly describe our little girls anymore. So here it goes.....
The holidays are here once again....gifts are wrapped, the tree is decorated, and nothing is being torn apart by our children. In fact, they pride themselves in the things they helped with.

Yesterday, we kicked off our holiday gathering by attending the "Williams' Winter Wonderlunch" my sister, Kelsey, and her husband, Eric, hosted at their home. Better known as Aunt Kiki and Uncle Ric at our house! Afterwards, we toured through Jolly Holiday Lights in downtown Des Moines. Myah and Maysen LOVE Christmas lights on the homes so this was a perfect event for them.

After watching Dora's Christmas Carol and The Polar Express, Myah and Maysen are more aware of Santa, but they still don't really understand, which is ok since they have found some of the stocking stuffers I had "hidden" in the spare bedroom.

Items on their Christmas lists include art easels, new Playdoh and toys to go with it, LeapFrog Tag reader, and a digital camera. New running shoes for mommy and daddy. It will be fun when they can make their own list next year to see what they come up with. They just don't quite get it this year.

We are eagerly working on potty training. Myah is much more interested than Maysen is. Mommy and Daddy are ready to be done with diapers, but the girls don't see any reason to stop playing to go tot he bathroom, so it may take a little bit longer. We always seem to be on the go so maybe once life slows down (Ha!) we will be able to focus on this more.

Brandon and I just finished our "last" grad class for our Master's degrees and we are planning on graduating in May.

This turned out better than a Christmas letter this year. Never hesitate to give me a nudge to keep this updated if you think I need one!

Happy Holidays and Great Joy sent from our hearts and homes to yours.
